Shore Road: Next Steps in the Ongoing Engagement Process

Shore Road: Next Steps in the Ongoing Engagement Process

At the Town Council meeting on 27 January, a report on the Shore Road Options Engagement prepared by Dorset Coast Forum was received. This follows last year’s public engagement on four possible approaches to improving the northern section of Shore Road from Ocean Bay to the junction of Victoria Avenue.

This report does not represent a final decision, but it’s an important milestone in a long process that began with feedback from local residents in 2022/23 calling for improvements to pedestrian safety and the public realm.

Dorset Council, as the highway authority, is now reviewing the engagement results alongside technical data. We currently anticipate their preferred option for Shore Road will be received and discussed publicly at the Town Council meeting on 23 February.

Any option taken forward by Dorset Council will still require further technical work, funding decisions and detailed design stages.

The engagement report can be accessed here: https://www.dorsetcoasthaveyoursay.co.uk/26164/widgets/143042/documents/9992.

Thank you again to everyone who took part in the engagement.
