Swanage Greenspace

Swanage Town Council proudly owns and manages over 37 hectares of diverse greenspaces, offering residents and visitors a wealth of opportunities to connect with nature, relax, socialise, and enjoy recreational activities. These spaces are more than just beautiful landscapes, they play a vital role in enhancing physical and mental wellbeing, supporting wildlife and biodiversity, and helping to mitigate climate change.

We have created a strategy which focuses exclusively on the greenspaces under the stewardship of Swanage Town Council. Each space is unique and managed with care, guided by shared principles that ensure they remain accessible, sustainable, and enriching for all.

Our Commitment

We are committed to recognising, protecting, and enhancing our greenspaces – not only for today’s community but for generations to come. This aligns with key priorities in our Corporate Plan 2023–2025, including:

  • Protecting the Natural Environment
  • Addressing the Climate Crisis
  • Improving Health and Wellbeing

What’s Inside the Strategy

This strategy outlines:

  • The core principles guiding greenspace management
  • Detailed information on each greenspace
  • How these areas can be accessed and enjoyed
  • An action plan with key milestones for maintenance and improvement

It is also shaped by valuable feedback from local residents who participated in the Swanage Greenspace Survey (2025) – thank you to everyone who contributed.

If you have any questions or ideas, please email admin@swanage.gov.uk.
