Swanage Town Council Corporate Plan 2026–2030
At the Annual Council Meeting on Monday 11th May, Swanage Town Council formally adopted its Corporate Plan for 2026–2030, setting out a clear vision and strategic direction over the coming years.
The Corporate Plan outlines how the Town Council will work to maintain and enhance Swanage for the wellbeing and prosperity of present and future generations, building on strong community engagement and partnership working.
Shaped by Local Voices
The plan was developed following extensive public consultation earlier this year.
A summary and consultation document was delivered to most households across the parish, supported by an online survey, engagement events at the Mowlem, and coverage through local media and social channels.
In total, 214 responses and 594 comments were received and carefully considered before adoption.
A Clear Vision for Swanage’s Future
The plan recognises Swanage’s unique role as both a vibrant community for residents and a much‑loved visitor destination, sitting within the Dorset National Landscape and acting as the eastern gateway to the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site.
It sets out five equally important priorities for 2026–2030:
- Delivering Good Governance
- Promoting Regenerative Tourism and Supporting the Local Economy
- Encouraging Health and Wellbeing and Enhancing Community Safety
- Planning for the Future and Preserving our Heritage
- Protecting the Natural Environment and Addressing the Climate Crisis
Across these priorities, the Council commits to transparency, strong financial management, partnership working, environmental responsibility, and improving accessibility and the quality of life for residents.
Working Together
The Corporate Plan highlights the vital role of collaboration with community organisations, voluntary groups, local businesses, Dorset Council, and public sector partners to deliver lasting positive change.
What Happens Next?
The plan will guide the Council’s decision‑making, budgeting, capital investments, and funding bids through to 2030, alongside the Medium‑Term Financial Plan and Priority Project List.
