NOTICE OF VACANT SEAT ON SWANAGE TOWN COUNCIL

NOTICE OF VACANT SEAT ON SWANAGE TOWN COUNCIL

Due to a change in circumstances, Councillor Sarah Brookes has resigned from Swanage Town Council.

The Town Mayor, Councillor Mike Bonfield, said:
"I would like to thank you for your time as a town councillor and the work that you have done. Many thanks for standing as a councillor to serve our town."

A vacancy now exists in the office of Town Councillor. Dorset Council, as the authority responsible for electoral services, has been informed, and a notice of vacancy has been published.

An election to fill the vacancy will be held if ten or more electors registered to vote at an address in the North ward submit a written request to the Returning Officer by 30th September 2025. If fewer than ten requests are received, the Town Council must fill the vacancy by co-option.

If an election is called, it will take place no later than 2nd December 2025.

Requests for an election should be sent in writing to:
The Returning Officer, Electoral Services, Dorset Council, County Hall, Dorchester, Dorset, DT1 1XJ
or by email to: elections@dorsetcouncil.gov.uk
