Northbrook Copse is a small area of woodland situated between D’Urberville Drive and Cauldron Barn Road. Transferred to Swanage Town Council by Purbeck District Council, the site was previously in a near-derelict state but showed ecological promise.
To support its restoration, a management programme was initiated to improve the woodland’s structure, with particular focus on enhancing the ground flora. In late 2023, a comprehensive Management Plan was developed, detailing the site's historical background, findings from ecological surveys, and a clear set of recommendations to preserve and enrich this valuable habitat.
As part of the ongoing conservation efforts, new signage has been installed to inform visitors about the history, flora, and fauna of the Copse, encouraging public engagement and appreciation of this important natural space.
