Proposed Diversion of Public Footpath Near Godlingston and Prospect Business Park
Dorset Council has made an order to divert a section of a public footpath running between the Prospect Business Park area and Godlingston Road in Swanage. The proposed new route would follow a nearby alignment, including a new pedestrian bridge and a path generally 2.5 metres wide.
The order was made on 19 June 2026 and forms part of a legal process to change the recorded route of the footpath. The existing route would only be closed once the order is confirmed and the replacement path has been certified as suitable for public use.
Anyone wishing to comment on or object to the proposal must submit their representations to Dorset Council by 30 July 2026. If no objections are received, or any objections are withdrawn, Dorset Council may confirm the order. Otherwise, the matter may be referred to the Secretary of State for a decision.
