🌍  Environment Action Plan  🌏

In September 2019 Swanage Town Council voted unanimously in favour of declaring a Climate and Ecological Crisis. The Council resolved to establish a working party to use its best endeavours to make Swanage Town Council carbon neutral by 2030.

Councillor Mike Bonfield says “The Town Council has acknowledged that scientific evidence points to the serious acceleration of climate change caused by human activity which has led to the present world climate and ecological crisis.”

As part of this process the Town Council has now formulated and approved a draft Environment Policy, and Environment Action Plan.

Sarah Spurling from Sustainable Swanage says “Local Councils have an important leadership role to play in tackling climate change, but real change can only be achieved by working with communities, organisations and individuals and we all have a role to play. By working together, we can achieve the positive change required to secure our future for the next generations”.
